It’s always a bloody and tight contest whenever Buddo SS and St. Mary’s Kitende meet in any of Uganda Secondary Schools Sports championships.

Over the years, this fixture is regarded to be the biggest in secondary schools.

After the semi-finals yesterday, it was confirmed the pair met again in yet another anticipated big final in Wakiso district.

Defending champions Buddo SS labored past Standard High School-Zana to reach Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) National qualifiers of Wakiso district finals.

Buddo tactician Simon Peter Mugerwa was sent off during the game.

Buddo beat Standard High School-Zana 5-4 after penalties following a 1-all normal time draw.

Henry Kato scored a late penalty to equalize for Standard High School-Zana cancelling James Kaye’s first half goal which gave Buddo SS a promising lead earlier on.

Buddo will face off with their long time rivals St. Mary’s Kitende in a repeat of 2018 and 2019 memorable finals

To reach this edition’s final, National and FEASSSA champions St. Mary’s Kitende managed a hard fought 3-1 win via penalties against a resilient Kawempe Royal College following a 0-0 draw in the normal time.

Buddo through Ukasha Mulondo and Devis Ogwal strikes beat London College 2-0 in the quarter final stage to set up a semi-final date against Standard High School-Zana (STAHIZA).

STAHIZA eliminated Kawanda SS in the quarter final by 3-1.

While St. Mary’s Kitende through forward Charles Lwanga, Najib Yiga and Andrew Kawooya “aka” Sergeant beat Boston High School 4-1 to reach semi-finals.

Whilst Kawempe Royal College beat Madinah Islamic 2-1 in a close quarter final contest.

The biggest secondary schools final tie is on this afternoon at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso.

In the previous two sporting years of 2018 and 19, the two sides met five times.

In 2018, Buddo SS lost 2-1 to St. Mary’s Kitende in Wakiso finals before they staged a 3-1 win in group A opening fixture during FEASSSA championship held in Musanze Rwanda.

In 2019, Buddo went ahead to beat St. Mary’s Kitende 5-4 in penalties after a 1-1 draw in the normal time in Wakiso district finals.

Kitende paid back to eliminate them at the semi-finals of Copa Coca-Cola in Jinja by 4-3 in penalties following a 1-1 normal time draw.

St. Mary’s Kitende summarized it all with a FEASSSA championship final with a 2-1 triumph over Buddo SS in Arusha.

Five boys football team will represent Wakiso district at the forthcoming USSSA National championship set for April in Arua.

These include Buddo SS, St. Mary’s Kitende, Standard High School-Zana, Kawempe Royal College and the play off final winner between London College and Boston High School.
