Masaza Cup Organizing Committee Bans Ssingo Players From the Competition for Flouting Health Guidelines

Joseph Ssempijja and Eria Bukenya both playing for the 2015 and 2018 champions Ssingo have been suspended from this year’s Masaza Cup tournament for flouting health guidelines put in place by the organizing committee to fight the spread of COVID-19 amongst actors.

The two have been further slapped with a two year ban from Masaza Cup tournament as the committee based on rule 16 of the competition to pass a punishment.

Bukenya and Ssempijja are accused of escaping from the Njeru Masaza camp and mixed into the community an act that risks to spread COVID-19.

The two join Bulemezi tactician Simon Peter Mugerwa and Uthman Wasswa (Ssingo Chairperson) who were earlier on suspended from the Masaza Cup camp for flouting health guidelines.

It was confirmed the two escaped from the camp immediately after their respective opening fixtures an act which was abolished by the organizing committee in pursuit to control the spread of Covid-19.

Ssingo have had a poor display in the tournament having lost two and drew once in their three Butikiro group games.

In their first game, Ssingo drew 1-all with Buluuli before they lost 3-0 and 4-0 to Mawogola and Bulemezi in the second and third game respectively.

In their last group game, Ssingo will play for the sake of finishing her schedules against Butambala.
