Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) games 2023 have been moved from Kigali to Rwanda’s southern province city Huye.

The change comes after a confirmation of unavailability of several Rwanda sports facilities in Kigali which include Amahoro and Nyamirambo Stadiums.

The mentioned facility were expected to host different games but this can happen since they are currently under renovation.

In a FEASSSA executive decision making meeting, Huye City won hosting rights beating the 2018 host Musanze and Rubavu.

Facilities including the Huye Stadium which was constructed in 2016 and also the Huye University facilities in within the City will host different games in different sports disciplines.

The naming of Rwanda as the 2023 FEASSA games hosts came as a result of initially named hosts Burundi declining the offer as they failed to beat the deadline for confirmation of acceptance.

The games come back to Rwanda after five years since they last hosted the event in 2018 edition in the Southern City of the country Musanze.

This will be the second time for FEASSSA games to be held in Huye after hosting the 2015 edition.

Uganda is the overall reigning champions having defended the 2019 crown in 2022, hosted in Arusha Tanzania.
