1 min read

Express FC’s unbeaten run has been halted following their 1-0 defeat against UPDF FC in a game played at the Bombo Barracks on Tuesday evening.

Forward Alex Kitatta scored the all important goal for the Kefa Kisala coached side  inside the opening 17 minutes of play after he headed home Isa Mubiru’s corner.

Express FC launched operation equalizer with Eric Kambale’s chance but his header sailed wide off a Geoffrey Lwesibawa cross.

Kambale then had his effort denied on two occasions by defender Vuni Joseph and goalkeeper Eric Kibowa in quick succession.

UPDF had a chance to make it 2-0 but forward Brian Kalumba failed to hit the target off a long pass from Ibrahim Thembo.

Express FC came close to equalizing only to be denied by the crossbar from a Mahad Kakooza strike from just outside the box.

Midfielder Muzamiru Mutyaba  also had his effort go wide before Eric Kambale sent a free kick, just outside the area, wide out after a foul on Mutyaba.

Tuesday’s loss means that Express FC are now second on the table with 28 points while UPDF are now sixth with 21 points from 13 games played so far.

Tuesday’s results
UPDF FC 1-0 Express FC
Police FC 0-2 URA FC
Kyetume FC 0-1 KCCA FC
Onduparaka FC 1-0 Mbarara City
