UPL: Kagimu, Cromwel on target as URA edge Police at Lugogo

URA FC Captain Shafiq Kagimu and Cromwel Rwothomio were on target to inspire URA FC to a 2-0 win against Police FC on Tuesday.

Kagimu scored the first goal and assisted the other as the Sam Ssimbwa coached side produced one of their best performances this season.

He lashed onto a lose-ball in the area after Police failed to deal with a Brian Majwega corner to hand Sam Simbwa’s side a first half lead in the 24th minute of the game.

Police were denied what looked like a clear penalty after Hood Mulikyi handled off Henry Kiseka’s over head kick but both the second assistant and centre referee did not signal for any infringement.

That looked more like justice as a few minutes earlier, Tom Ikara bundled into Cromwel, inside the area, and the referee played on despite clear contact.

Ikara would then be stretchered off, injured and replaced by Ochan.

In the 67th minute, Cromwel doubled URA’s lead with a simple slot from the left side of the box.

Police who had won all their past five games at home, failed to copy up with URA’s performance on the day.

The result means that URA FC are now on top of the League with 30 points, two ahead of Express FC who lost to UPDF FC on the same day while Police FC drop to 5th with 24 points from 13 games.

Tuesday’s results

Busoga United FC 1-0 MYDA FC
Kyetume FC 0-1 KCCA FC
UPDF FC 1-0 Express FC
Onduparaka FC 1-0 Mbarara City FC
