Uganda Martyrs Lubaga Women Football Club have today, the 9th October 2023 unveiled eight players ahead of the 2023/24 FUFA Women’s Super League (FWSL) Kick off.

The announcement of the added players was done at St. Gerald Stadium in Lubaga.

Four of the eighth (8) players were promoted from the feeder project (School team) and the rest come from other clubs.

Catherine Namawejje(Gk), Catherine Nyiyonshuti, Nanvule Deborah, Comfort Achulu were the promoted players from the junior team.

Whilst, Shamina Nakalyowa  (Byafaayo), Shakira Nagudi (Asubo Gafford), Nabilah Nakitto (Asubo Gafford) and Sharon Kanyigina (Tooro Queens) were the four players from external teams.

During the same event, Rodgers Nkugwa was officially announced as the club’s new head coach, returning to the club for his second stint.

Nkugwa was last year at Asubo Gafford Ladies FC as the later survived relegation at the final bend of the season.

Formerly at Gaddafi, Rajab Buyinza  and Goal keeping coach Derrick Kasumba are the new faces on the technical team as assistant and goal keeping coaches to Nkugwa.

Freda Ayerango was also unveiled to replace Ivor Sempa Kimbugwe who left the Club a few months back as the club CEO.

While addressing the media, Club President Brother Leonard Nsubuga Kasozi Gomba clearly outlined the club’s agenda this season.

“We have been first runners up and third before. Our agenda this season is to win the trophy.

We a new technical team and CEO in place, our sight is set onto the league trophy.

Since the inception of the league, we (Uganda Martyrs have been there and we feel it’s our turn to take charge.

We need an international feel in women football as Uganda representatives to the CAF Champions League”. Club President Brother Leonard Nsubuga Kasozi Gomba

The 2023/24 FUFA Women Super League kick off is on Saturday 14th October. UCU Lady Cardinals will play host to Lady Doves in Mukono in the opener.

Uganda Martyrs will on the road to Philip Omondi Stadium to play Kampala Queens on Sunday 15th October.
