Wakiso Giants will begin their Stanbic Uganda Cup 2022 campaign away to Buganda Regional side Kiyinda Boys at Ssaza Ground, Mityana.

The Wednesday fixture in the Round of 64 will see the Purple Sharks attempting to maintain their decent record in the competition.

In the past three seasons, the Purple Sharks have reached at least the round 16 and twice got to the quarter finals including last season before being eliminated by Police on away goals rule.

Coach Alex Gitta is aware of the threat posed by the hosts and has also a scouting report on how they play.

“We want to go as far as possible in the competition and we shall take the game against Kiyinda Boys very serious well aware that it’s a knock out competition,” Gitta said.

“They are doing well in their league and though there is not much we know about them, I watched them play in Masaka on Sunday and know what threat they pose.”

“Good enough, we have had friendlies with regional sides and also played one in Mityana and so we know how to approach the game,” he added.

Wakiso Giants new signing Sam Ssenyonjo is available in the match day squad if his license is issued on time.

Elsewhere, Seeta United will take on Tepa at Paul Mukasa Primary School playground while Kajjansi United will lock horns with MYDA at Uganda Clays, Kajjansi.
