FUFA Women Cup: St. Noa Girls School-Zana labor past Lady Doves to reach quart-final

Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Fresh Diary Games and Federation of East African Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) girls football champions St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana beat former FUFA Super league champions Lady Doves to storm FUFA Women cup quarter-finals.

The highly contested tied was held on Saturday evening, the 18th March 2023 at Africa Bible University in Lubowa.

In a seven goal thriller characterized by numerous high temper scenes ended 4-3 in the favor of the school girls St. Noa as they smiled home with victory and a quarter final slot.

Sylvia Kabene and speed merchant Miriam Ayo aka “Bajaji”  scored a brace each for St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana

Whilst, Norah Alupo and Olivia Babirye scored a brace and a goal respectively for the visitors Lady Doves.

Lady Doves finished the game with numerical disadvantage following a send off of their captain Lydia Nyandera for a second bookable offence.

The Zana based side St. Noa Girls eliminated Wakiso Hill 4-3 after penalties following a 1-all normal time draw.

Captain Barbra Anomo scored for St. Noa Girls-Zana in the normal time whilst Sylvia Namiwanda netted for Wakiso Hill to send the game to spot kicks.

On the other hand, Lady Doves eliminated Bunyaruguru WFC at the round of 32.

Elsewhere, Asubo-Gafford Ladies eliminated Gyco by 3-0. Madinah Nakaayi, Irene Nakilyowa and Zaitun Namaganda scored the three goals that sent Asubo to quarter-finals.

In the other day’s game, Kampala Queens thumped Tooro Queens 6-2 at IUIU grounds in Kabojja.

Sophia Nakiyingi and Hasifah Nassuna scored a brace each, midfielder Joan Nabirye scored with a goal and an own goal by Tooro Queens’ defender to give Kampala Queens a 6-2 win.

Tooro Queens’ two goals came through Sharon Kanyiginya and Evelyn Katusiime.
