CAF WCL Qualifiers: Lady Doves name final traveling contingent to Kenya

Uganda’s representatives at the forthcoming CAF Women’s Champions League zonal qualifiers Lady Doves FC have named a 35 man traveling contingent.

The team is set to fly to Nairobi, Kenya on Wednesday morning aboard Uganda Airlines.

The Doves are Uganda’s flag bearers at the Inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers set to be held in Kenya starting Saturday 28th August 2021.

The traveling contingent consist of 22 players, 6 technical members, a leader of delegation from FUFA and notable club leaders, the chairperson inclusive.

The tournament action will start on August 28th with two games to be played at the Nyayo Stadium.

Lady Doves were pitted in group A with Simba Queens, FAD FC and PVP FC and shall have their first group encounter on Saturday 28th, August 2021.

While addressing the media at a press conference held today morning at Uganda Martyrs High School, Lubaga, club chairman Mugisa asserted that Lady Doves is not only representing it’s flag or the region of it’s origin, but also the national flag.

“We have been in camp for almost three months, the team is in good shape, the girls are in good mood and ready to represent Uganda.”

“We are the first club to represent the country and of now we carry our flag as well as the Uganda flag and therefore call upon all Ugandans to be behind us in all aspects.”

“As the proprietor of the club and the biggest investor in it, the only demand I have is to come back home with glory and I believe we can do it.”

The winner from the CECAFA qualifiers will join the other seven to battle in the 2021 TotalEnergies Women’s Champions League to be held in Egypt.
