
27th NSSFKAVC International Volleyball Championship draws: 44 million cash prize to be won
The highly anticipated 27th edition of the NSSFKAVC International Volleyball Championship has officially gotten underway, with the draws taking place on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the Uganda Olympic Committee headquarters in Lugogo.
This year’s tournament promises to be an exciting event, featuring 28 teams from five countries: Burundi, Rwanda, Kenya, South Sudan, and Uganda, with 15 men’s teams and 13 women’s teams vying for the top spots.
Under the Theme: “Championing better community health and behavior through sports”, tge championship will serve off this September 12-14, 2025 at Lugogo Indoor Stadium and Hockey National grounds.
Courtesy of NSSF, a total of 44 million Uganda shillings will be awarded to the champions, runners-up, and second runners-up in both men’s and women’s categories.
Champions champions in both categories will pocket 10 million Uganda shillings, 7 million for first runners-up while second runners-up will earn 5 million Uganda shillings
At this year’s edition, each team is allowed to use only three foreign players.
Rwanda Energy Group (REG) and Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) are the defending champions in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively.
The NSSFKAVC International Volleyball Championship has a rich history, dating back to 1995 when Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) celebrated its Silver Jubilee.
The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has been the tournament’s lead sponsor for the past 16 years, committing UGX 120 million to support the event.
The teams have been divided into groups as follows:
Men’s Groups
– Group A: KAVC League, Sky (Uganda), Police Uganda
– Group B: REG (Rwanda), Police Rwanda, Chema (Kenya), Twic
– Group C: APR (Rwanda), KAVC GZ, KCCA, Rukinzo
– Group D: Equity Kenya, KAVC C, Kampala University, St. Charles
Women’s Groups
– Group A: KAVC League, KAVC C, COBAP
– Group B: RRA (Rwanda), Seroma, Kampala University
– Group C: Rwanda National Police, VVC, Twic (South Sudan)
– Group D: APR (Rwanda), KCCA, Cobra (South Sudan), KBC Nkumba
