The 27th edition of the annual NSSF-KAVC International Volleyball Championship is set to serve off this Friday, September 12th, 2025, at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium and Hockey National grounds.

The tournament, which has been a staple of Ugandan sports for years, promises to be an exciting event with 20 teams from local and international clubs participating.

This year’s theme, “Championing better community health and behavior through sports,” highlights the importance of sports in promoting healthy lifestyles and positive behavior.

The tournament features teams from Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Kenya, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Rwanda Energy Group (REG) and Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) are the defending champions in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively.

They won the titles in the previous edition by defeating Rwandan Patriotic Army (APR) and Rwanda National Police in the finals.

This year’s edition features a new corporate category, which aims to promote volleyball among corporate teams.

The tournament will be played at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium, with the Hockey pitch serving as an auxiliary venue.

The NSSF International Volleyball Championship has a rich history, dating back to 1995 when Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) celebrated its Silver Jubilee.

The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) is the tournament’s lead sponsor, having supported the event for the past 16 years.

Other sponsors include Pepsi, Pallisa Agro Processors, Ministry of Health, and the Uganda Volleyball Federation.

The tournament provides a platform for teams from different countries to come together and compete, promoting unity and sportsmanship.

With its rich history and strong sponsorship, the NSSF International Volleyball Championship is set to be an exciting and memorable event.
