Uganda U20 National Kabaddi team (The Gladiators) has been flagged off to Tehran, Iran for 2023 Kabaddi Junior World Cup championship.

The Gladiators take part at this year’s edition scheduled for 28th February to 5th March in Tehran, Iran.

The team was flagged off today, Friday, 24th February at National Council of Sports headquarters in Lugogo, Kampala by Ivan Mugoowa who represented the NCS general secretary, Dr. Patrick Bernard Ogwel.

This will be the second appearance for Uganda Gladiators at the youth pinnacle event with their ever first time coming way back in 2019.

Urmia city in West Azerbaijan Province of Iran will host this World Cup event.

A total of eighteen (18) players have been training for three weeks, from whom the final 12 man squad was selected and announced before flag off.

The team will fly out of the country a head of the tournament to Tehran on 26th February.

Uganda will have to pass hard tests from Nations like the sport fathers India, Pakistan, hosts Iran, Indonesia, South Korea, Poland, England, Nepal, Kenya, Takministan, and Iraq.
