Women football: The historical Ayub Khalifah Kiyingi elevated to U20 head coach roles

The historical Ayub Khalifah Kiyingi has been elevated to U20 women football national team head coach roles ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The development confirmed this morning was approved by the FUFA Executive Committee as away to improve the national team performance.

Ayub Khalifah Kiyingi has been the head coach for U17 Women’s National Team where he wrote unbreakable records in just a limited period of time.

Kiyingi guided the U17 national team to a COSAFA triumph held in Mauritius in 2019 when he beat South Africa in the final before he won the CECAFA championship in the same year.

 

Ayub Khalifah Kiyingi replaces Oliver Mbekeka who is maintained on the technical team, serving as Assistant Coach.

In the other changes, Mubarak Kiberu who has served at the U17 Boys Natioanal Team (The Cubs) as goalkeeping coach has been appointed to serve in the same capacity on the U20 Women National Team.

Stella Nankuba and Cissy Nakiguba will serve as the Team Doctor and Equipment Manager respectively.

The new technical team’s immediate task will guiding the team during the 2022 FIFA U-20 World Cup Qualifiers due this month.

Uganda will start the tough journey against arch rivals and regional giants Kenya with fixtures scheduled for 23rd -25th September 2021 (First leg) and 7th -9th October 2021 (Second Leg).
