Wear Us: KCCA FC, Other UPL Top Clubs Launch “Wear Your Local Jersey Campaign”

Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club in conjunction with other topflight league clubs launched the “Wear Your Local Jersey Campaign” that is urging all Uganda football fans to support their home clubs via buying their merchandises.

The event that was held at KCCA FC home at Lugogo on Tuesday, 29th 2020, attracted CEOs from six-time Premier league champions, Express FC, Police FC, Wakiso Giants, URA FC, Media officer from 20219/20 UPL champions Vipers and that from Sports Club Villa.

While addressing media, the KCCA FC CEO Anisha Muhoozi asserted that Sports in Uganda has been taken as leisure and yet sportingly the nation ranking high compared to her neighbors.

“The Sports industry has been taken as leisure and yet when you compare Uganda to our neighbors, we better than them sportingly but our commercial value is still low, so as clubs we decided to come up with a campaign named #Wear youR locAl Jersey” Anisha Said before adding.

“In doing this, indirectly we shall be adding value to country’s economy.

” so Uganda football fans are urged to buy local apparel from their various Ugandan Football Clubs and proudly wear them to promote and grow Ugandan Football. In challenging times like these ones where the COVID 19 pandemic has struck the local football industry hard since 20th March 2020 when sports activities were suspended, merchandise is one of the ways through which Clubs can generate funds and also football stakeholders showing their support to Ugandan Football.”

Humphrey Mandu, Deputy CEO of football governing body in Uganda, welcomed the initiative and asserted that;

“This is a very important initiative to Promote our own, brand visibility is a key aspect in developing the sport world over, as FUFA we shall help in engaging government entities such especially those dealing with counterfeit, and the good this URA is part of the clubs.”

Clubs promised to provide quality merchandise and at discounted rates.

They urged fans to have healthy competition that will develop the local sports.
