Record champions SC. Villa names new manager to replace Sulait Makumbi

Uganda Premier league (UPL) record champions SC Villa have named Ali Kayongo as their new team manager.

The announcement was done on Friday morning, the 8th September 2023.

“SC Villa has appointed Mr. Ali Kayongo as its Team Manager, a former player of the club who held its flag high during the 1990s as a midfielder having won the league during his first season at the club in 1994. He comes with lots of experience to share with the team.” Reads the club’s statement on their official social media platform.

As they prepare for the beginning of the 2023/24 UPL season, Villa has  replaced Sulait Makumbi with Kalyango in away to reshape the Blues back to their old glory.

Makumbi was named SC. Villa manager midway last season replacing Dan Mubiru.

In the same interest, Geoffrey Bukohore is confirmed  Coordinator of the Jogoos ahead of new season.

“Mr. Geoffrey Bukohore has been appointed as the SC Villa Team Coordinator. He is also a former SC Villa defender who was part of the 1998 double-winning squad and subsequently emerged as a 1999 CECAFA finalist with the Club.” Partly reads the statement on SC Villa’s official Facebook page.

SC Villa who finished second last season will kick off their league campaign against newly promoted Kitara FC on Friday, the 15th September 2023.
