Masaza Cup: Organizing committee confirms playgrounds ahead of opener

Ahead of the tournament opener on Saturday the 22nd June 2024, Masaza Cup Organizing committee has confirmed the 18 venues to host games.

The teams to play this year’s opener and venue will be announced tomorrow, Wednesday, the 29th May by the minister for Youth, Sports and Arts Ssalongo Robert Sserwanga.

 

The development comes after the climax of the inspection of all counties’ proposed playgrounds as Chairman Organizing committee Sulaiman Ssejjengo explains;

“After inspection, we found out some playgrounds need more upgrades.

We have so far confirmed 15 playgrounds and the other three are on probation. If we find out they can’t host games at the beginning of the season, we shall ask those teams to propose to us other venues”.

The famous Masaka Recreation Grounds miss out on this year’s venue. Buddu switches to Sports Arena at Kitovu as Recreation Grounds under go upgrade expected to begin soon.

Meanwhile, Buwekula have also switched from St. Peter’s to Mubende National teachers College, while, Busujju move from Maanyi to Kakindu.

Buluuli have moved to Kakooge from Mijeera as Butambala dump Nkookoma for Kibibi.

Busiro has gone back to the historical Ssentama grounds from Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso and Kkooki will host from Kyotera.

Bulemeezi are the reigning champions. They edged Gomba 1-0 in last year’s final on Saturday, the 28th October at Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku.

Johnson Ssenyondo scored the all important goal of the day.
