CAF U-15 Africa Schools Championship: Kawempe, Kitende learn group opponents
Uganda is set to host the CAF U-15 African Schools Football Championship 2026 CECAFA Zone Qualifiers from December 6-9, 2025, featuring 10 boys’ teams and 8 girls’ teams vying for a spot at next year’s continental finals.
Kawempe Muslim Secondary School (Girls) and St. Mary’s Kitende (Boys) are Uganda’s representatives at the tournament.

Kawempe Muslim has been drawn in Group A with Kenya, Burundi, and Rwanda.
Group B features last year’s runners up Tanzania, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Djibouti.
Meanwhile St. Mary’s Kitende faces Burundi, Djibouti, Kenya, and South Sudan in Group A.
Group B will feature last year’s champions Tanzania, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Somalia, and Zanzibar.
“We are happy to announce that the regional qualifiers for the CECAFA Zone will now be hosted by Uganda from December 6-9, 2025.

This is a very important competition to have the youngsters compete at Zonal level for boys and girls and later, and we thank Uganda for accepting to host the tournament,” said Jean Sseninde, Acting CECAFA CEO.
The qualifiers will also host CAF’s Capacity Building Programmes, including the Young Reporters Programme, Young Referee Programme, Young Medical Officers Programme, CAF D License Coaching Course, and CAF Safeguarding workshops.

Uganda has a rich history in the championship, with St. Noa Girls winning gold at the CECAFA qualifiers last year, only to settle for silver at the continental finals.
St. Mary’s Kitende was second best to Tanzania, qualifying for the finals in Accra.
There is only one slot for the continental finals. The champion from each category will book a ticket to Africa finals.
