CAF African Schools Championship: Royal Giants books ticket to Morocco after CECAFA zone triumph

Uganda’s representative Royal Giants High School, Mityana beat Geda Roble of Ethiopia 4-2 after spot kicks following a goalless normal time draw to win the CAF African Schools Championship qualifier tourney for CECAFA zone.

The victory confirms the Mityana giants have qualified to the  inaugural CAF Africa Schools championship finals to be held later this year in Casablanca.

The highly contested CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers final was played at the Azam Complex, Kimanzi in Tanzania this afternoon.

Enock Bagenda, Thomas Ogema, Nasifu Najibu and Jovan Katuramu found the back of the net for Royal Giants in the spot kicks.

In the semi-final, Royal Giants overcame a resilient Libya Primary School by 2-1 to storm final.

Royal Giants walks away with USD 100,000 prize money.

Uganda’s representatives in the girls category, Amus College Bukedea is to wait a bit longer for a chance to finals after settling for a third place.

The Bukedea side lost 2-0 to finalists Aworo SS before they (Aworo) lost the final 3-0 to Tanzania’s Fountain Gate.

Amus College Bukedea will walk home with USD 50,000 prize money.

The CAF Pan Africa School’s championship will take place in Morocco from 7th to 9th April in Casablanca Morocco.
