The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) conducted the drawing of lots on Sunday evening to determine the top two teams in Group B of the TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

The regulations of the TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations state that if there is a tie, the drawing of lots will be held to confirm the final standings.

The move was necessitated by the fact that Uganda and Congo were level on five points each with an identical goal difference at the top of the group.

The draw was held at the press conference room of the Cairo International Stadium after the final whistle of both final matches of the group in the presence of the media.

A representative of Congo was present at the draw while Uganda’s representative followed the event through a live stream in Ismailia where they played their final group match.

The Hippos of Uganda were drawn first which gives them first place in the group and Congo secured second place.

South Sudan’s goalless draw against Uganda at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia secures third place for the debutants while the Central African Republic finish bottom with one point.
