Zimbabwe national football team is targeting knockout stage in the forthcoming 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The Warriors appears in the Africa Cup of Nations for the third successive time, hoping to go beyond the group stages for the first time in their history.

According to head coach Norman Mapeza, all teams in Cameroon are aiming for higher.

“All the teams present at the AFCON are aiming for the title even if only one team can do it. AFCON have shown that there is no such thing as a small team,” Mapeza said.

Zimbabwe failed to go beyond group stages in all the four times they participated in Afcon and these were in 2004, 2006, 2017 and 2019.

They will rely more on star players like Tino Kadewere, Teenage Hadebe and Knowledge Musona.
