Buganda Cup: Hosts Kawanda SS, Uganda Martyrs reach boys football final

Janan 1-0 Uganda Martyrs

Hosts Kawanda Secondary School and Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga will face off in this year’s Kabaka Cup final after their triumph in the semi-finals.

Kawanda eliminated Greenlight Islamic School-Nansana by 4-3 after penalties following a goalless normal time draw in the last semi-final.

Kawanda SS goalie Richard Ssebagala’s staged heroics to save Shakur Ngoobi and Henry Junior Egesa spot kicks sent the host to final.

In the quarter-finals, Kawanda eliminated Mengo SS in a 1-0 win. Deogratious Ariet scored the only goal of tie to strike Kawanda to semi-final stage.

Meanwhile, Uganda Martyrs High School beat Janan Schools 1-0 in the first semi-finals to reach final.

International student (Nigeria) Emmanuel Eneka’s long range strike was enough to dump Janan.

In the quarter-finals, the Lubaga based school drew 0-0 against Standard High School-Zana. Uganda Martyrs advanced to semi-finals after a 4-2 triumph in penalties.

The final will be held at Kawanda Secondary School Grounds on Saturday the 16th March.

Buganda Premier Charles Peter Mayiga together with other Kingdom dignitaries will grace the finals.

In girls football, Kawempe Muslim Secondary School will face off with Uganda Martyrs High School.

The basketball final both in girls and boys will be between co-host  Mbogo Mixed Secondary School and Buddo SS.

In volleyball, Mbogo Mixed will lock horns with Standard High School-Zana  in boys.

In girls, Trinity College Nabingo will be up against St. Joseph’s Secondary School – Nsambya .

In primary football for boys, St. Noa Boarding Junior School-Zana will play Muteesa I Primary School (Zirobwe) in the semi-finals while Kampala Grammar face Richdad.
