27 flagged off to Morocco for African Nations Championship

A team of 27 motor-cyclists have been flagged off to Morocco for the Motocross of All African Nations Championship (MXOAN) scheduled for 25th – 27th this October in Marrakesh.

The Flagg off was done by National Council of Sports (NCS) Assistant General Secretary in charge of administration Joseph Oluga at Copper Chimney Restaurant in Lugogo.

While addressing the media at the flag off, Arthur Blick the contingent’s team manager expressed the team’s readiness.

“The team has had better preparations and good machines unlike previous championships.

At this edition, we go out for nothing less than the title”. Blick.

The team will take part in MX 50,65,85,125 and in MX1 and 2, the federation president Jimmy Akena will also take part in the Veteran’s Category.

Stav Orland the team captain and the defending champion of MX2 category says the team has no other objective for this year than winning a championship.

“We have been at this stage before and did wonders. We are a good and experienced team to challenge any crew.

Our target is a championship and everyone on the squad is ready to roar”. Orland.

Apart from Orland, the team will bank onto the skill and expertise of Fortune Sentamu, Gift Ssebuguzi and Milton Akaki who all promised to put up a good show.

Uganda last won this championship in 2012. In the 2023 championship held in Cape Town in South Africa, Uganda finished 5th.

South Africa were last year’s eventual winner.

10 countries including South Africa, Namibia, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Uganda Morocco the host and other will take part in this year’s championship.
