The 5th Edition of the All Islamic Schools (AIS) Games 2025 has officially kicked off at Madina Islamic Secondary School in Nsangi, Katereke.

The tournament, which follows the Quran recitation competition and other cultural events, promises to be an exciting celebration of sports and Islamic values.

Day One Results

On the first day of the games, title contenders Greenlight Islamic Secondary School – Nansana made a strong statement with two signature wins.

In their opening tie, they thrashed Bugembe Islamic 4-0, with Ryan Ssekitoleko, Sudaice Muyinda, Terry Andabati, and Ian Tabingwa scoring the goals.

Greenlight Islamic continued their winning streak, beating Hamdan Islamic 2-0 in their second game, with Ryan Ssekitoleko and Elvis Kimuli scoring a goal each.

Other Matches

The defending champions in boys’ football, Madina Islamic, started their title defense with a thrilling 4-0 win over Rabiha High School.

Shakib Ssempijja registered a brace, while Aiman Kato and Kassim Wanani scored a goal each.

Other notable matches included a goalless draw between Buziga Islamic and Ibun Kathir, while Kampala Islamic convincingly beat Hamdan Islamic 3-0.

Previous Competitions

Before the games, the Quran recitation competition was won by Bilal Islamic Bwaise, while TopTimes High School emerged as Public speech champions, and hosts Madina Islamic won the Poetry competition.

Tournament History

The All Islamic Schools Games have a rich history, with the first edition held in 2019 before being halted by the COVID-19 lockdown.

The games resumed in 2022 with the second edition, and this year marks the 5th Edition.

Last year’s champions included Madina Islamic in football, Greenlight Islamic in netball, and Bugembe Islamic in volleyball.

What’s Next

The games will resume this morning to witness the climax of group stage games, followed by the finals and awarding ceremony in the evening.

The tournament promises to be an exciting celebration of sports, Islamic values, and camaraderie among the participating schools.
