Uganda basketball has grown and the national schools championship competition a very big platform and a yard stick for quality.
We have an upper hand given the fact that they are the same players we use to out compete our opponents during the Federation of Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) Games.
The two teams are set to start a residential seven day camp starting from 1st June to 8th, a day before the tee off of the championship.
The Silverback head coach Andrew said, “Our target is purely qualification to the finals. We are expecting more six foreign based players to join the 12 in camp and this will give us a broader view of the team”.
Nine teams including host Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania for boys and girls and Somalia (only girls) are confirmed to take part in the qualifying event.
Meanwhile Egypt who is a member of this zone is having direct ticket since they are the reigning champions. Egypt beat host Madagascar to win the 2022 championship.
