Police climb to the helm past Vipers who squander for a draw
Police Football Club continued its impressive run in the 2020-21 Uganda Premier league season as they went to the helm of the log after a 2-0 emphatic victory at Philp Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Tuesday.

Pacey and agile winger Johnson Odong together with newly acquired Brian Mululi Mayanja scored hence guiding the Cops past BUL FC.

BUL FC came into the fixture on a high having bagged maximum points against struggling KCCA FC in their most recent game at Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe.

The first stanza was full of beautiful shows as the home side kept BUL’s defence on their feet despite it ending goalless. As the second half started the Cops introduced Herman Wasswa and Duncan Senninde for Muwanda Mawejje and Ruben Kimera.

The introduced duo brought life to the game and pace as Sseninde’s presence in the midfield and increased Police’s intensity.

The victory sends Abudallah Mubiru’s charges to the summit of the log past reigning champions Vipers SC after seven games played off the on going season.

The defending champions Vipers SC found a hard time as they made a long trip to Jinja on Tuesday to face Kyetume FC at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.

January’s deadly signing Yunus Ssentamu was the hero of the day as he secured a point for the visitors in the dying minutes through a deflected free kick.

Yusuf Ssaka placed Kyetume in the lead after 13 minutes of play but Ssentamu levelled matters in the 22nd minute tapping in from a close range.

Five minutes in to the second half Richard Matovu regained Kyetume’s lead that didn’t last since Ssentamu levelled matters again in the 89th minute.

Vipers were descended to second position with 15 points after their third stalemate of the season while Kyetume are positioned ninth with 10 points on a 16-teamed log.

Action continues tomorrow with three games to play as Express host KCCA, Wakiso Giants FC host SC Villa and struggling MYDA FC take on URA FC.

Elsewhere, Kabon Living netted the winner for the Caterpillars with less than 10 minutes to play as Onduparaka defeated UPDF 1-0 in Bombo
Brian Ssenyondo, who came back onto the Mbarara Cityb technical bench, guided his side to their first of the season via a Solomon Okwalinga’s strike against Kitara FC at the Kavumba Recreation Center, Wakiso.
