Express Football Club have been officially crowned the winners of the Uganda Premier League for 2020/21 season.

The event that was attended by different dignitaries including the Express CEO Isaac Mwesigwa, Coach Wasswa Bbosa, Capatin Mathais Muwanga under the watch of FUFA President Moses Magogo, official from the UPL Secretariat and StarTimes Uganda was held on Tuesday, 13th July at StarTimes headquarters at Soliz House in Nakasero, Kampala.

Due to the outbreak of the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic that led to a 42 days lockdown in June, Express FC were declared champions as the season was ended prematurely.

Express beat URA FC and Vipers SC who were second and third in a highly tight contest. The Red Eagles had accumulated 58 points, compared to URA FC’s 57 with four games to left to finish the season.

This is Express FC’s 7th league title. The Mayuuni boys had last won the league in 2012 under Sam Simbwa with Wasswa Bbosa as an assistant.
