The 2025 Buganda Sports Calendar has officially been launched by the Buganda Minister for Youth, Sports, and Arts, Owek Robert Sserwanja.

This comprehensive calendar outlines the activities and work plan for all major Buganda events, including the inclusion of badminton for the first time.

According to Annet Nakamya, President of the Uganda Badminton Association, “We are thrilled to be part of this year’s Buganda Sports Calendar, which will undoubtedly transform the face of badminton in Uganda.”

The badminton tournament is scheduled to take place from August 8-10 at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.

Key Events in the 2025 Buganda Sports Calendar:

– Ggombolola Sports Activities: Starting this month, with the opening ceremony being the Ssekiboobo Cup at Bishop SS in Mukuno, Kyaggwe.
– Buganda Sports Awards: Slated for February.
– Bika Football Tournament: Kicking off on April 19 and concluding on May 31, 2025.
– Bika Netball Tournament: Taking place from April 12-19.
– Masaza Cup 2025: Launching on July 2 and kicking off on July 5.
– Kabaka Birthday Run: Scheduled for April 6.
– Buganda School Sports Competitions: Starting on April 14-18.
– Buganda Coronation Rugby: Slated for August 2-3.
– Buganda Royal Regatta: Taking place on August 23, 2025.
