Vipers SC edge Mbarara City 2-1 in the first leg of the semifinals to take narrow advantage in the Stanbic Uganda Cup at Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara.

Paul Mucureezi opened the scores for the cup holder before Milton Karisa doubled the advantage at the stroke of halftime on Wednesday.

The home side however pulled one back through Seri Arugamaho inside the final ten minutes to give Mbarara City hope ahead of the return leg next week at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

On the other hand, BUL FC earned a comprehensive result in the other semifinal contest, winning 5-1 against Booma FC in Masindi.

The winners on aggregate from the two semifinal contests will advance to the final.

Should Viper SC and BUL maintain their lead after the return leg, this will mean a repeat of last season’s final.

The Venoms targets Stanbic Uganda Cup championship defense and also winning double after their StarTimes Uganda Premier League victory.
