Police FC confirms Simon Peter Mugerwa, four others in coaching roles
FUFA Big League side Police FC have finally confirmed the appointment of Simon Peter Mugerwa as their new head coach.
Mugerwa replaces Angello Lonyesi. Lonyesi was let go at the end of last season after the Cops narrowly missed out on bouncing back to the top tier.
Police FC released a press release confirming Mugerwa’s appointment and his technical team.
“Police Football Club has appointed Simon Peter Mugerwa as the new head coach on a two year contract. Mugerwa a CAF B holder replaces Angello Lonyesi who took charge of the team last season.” Partly read the statement.
Mugerwa is currently the Buddu head coach at the on going Masaza Cup tournament. He has also worked with Bulemeezi and Busiro and led them to Masaza Cup titles.
He also worked with Soltilo Bright Stars in the Uganda Premier League.
Robert Ssekeweyana and former Uganda Cranes left back Nestroy Kizito have been appointed as the first and second assistants respectively.
Ben Kalama Lwanga is the goalkeepers coach and Fazil Ibrahim has been retained as the fitness coach.
With the FUFA Big League 2023/24 season kicking off officially on Thursday 21st September, Police FC will play debutants Young Elephant FC on Monday 25th at Kavumba Recreation grounds.
