Komakech, Senkaaba and seven others nominated for February

The Fortebet Real Stars monthly sports awards nominees for February are out with nine athletes from three sports disciplines of football, athletics and badminton.

Komakech has only conceded twice in four games, keeping two clean sheets with outstanding performances in the ongoing U20 AFCON finals in Mauritania. His heroics in to save Yacouba Djiga’s penalty in the quarterfinal against Burkina Faso see Uganda Hippos into the first ever semifinal in the competition.
Serwadda is another nominee for the football category. Despite few minutes played, Sserwadda is one of the leading Uganda scores with two with tournament contender goal he scored against Mauritania as Uganda advanced from group stages.
Five goals on his name in one month is an amazing achievement for George Senkaaba to appear to the podium. It’s through his scoring sublime form has seen his side Express FC consolidate 2nd place in the Uganda Premier league.

Athletics category has Hosea Kiplangat, a Ugandan long distance runner, Joshua Cheptegei and Peruth Chemutai
Kiplangat against all odds managed to hit the finishing point before any other, making 2:14:0 time ahead of Kusuro Geoffrey who came second with 29:15:1 and Chibet Samuel with 29:18:5 in Tororo during the National Cross Country championship.

The 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games silver medalist Peruth be Chemutai finished at 33:35:1 beating Chemutai Doreen who came second 33:43:4 and Chesang Doreen with 33:44:4.
Whilist Joshua Cheptegei retained the 5km Monaco Run title after he crossed the line at 13 minutes, 11 seconds on 14th February 2021.

In the badminton category, Husina Kobugabe, Shanika Fadilah, Brian Kasirye are the nominees.
Together with Uganda’s seed one, Brian Kasirye, Husina Kobugabe won a gold medal in mixed doubles beating fellow Ugandan duo Ismael Wanagalya and Betty Apio by two sets straight 21-13, 22-20.
Husina Kobugabe reaped big in this year’s tourney, gathered two gold medals from a mixed doubles and Women doubles where she paired Mable Namakoye to beat their counterparts Tracy Naluwooza and Fadila Shamika.
