Kampala Queens, Wakiso Hill face off in Finance Trust Women Super League opener
Some Finance Trust Women Super League games will form a doubleheader format with games in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
The new ideation will be witnessed at the 2024/25 season opener between one time champions Kampala Queens and Wakiso Hill WFC tomorrow, Friday the 27th September at Lugogo.
The Women Super League clash between Kampala Queens and Wakiso Hill will be a curtain-riser ahead of a huge StarTimes Uganda Premier League encounter between KCCA FC and Kitara FC at Lugogo on Friday which will be played at 7pm.
Kampala Queens WFC completed a double against Wakiso Hill last season.
Forward Zainah Nandede scored an early 8th minute goal in the second round tie on 18th February for Kampala Queens WFC to win hosts Wakiso Hill 1-0 at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende.
In the first round clash held on the 21st January 2024 at Lugogo, Kampala Queens WFC won 2-1.
Former captain Zainah Namuleme and Zainah Nandede scored in the 2nd and 82nd minutes to give Kampala Queens a home win.
Meanwhile, Rashida Nankya scored for Wakiso Hill in the 20th minute.
Tomorrow’s host Kampala Queens have confirmed 11 additions to the squad following a player exodus that saw 12 leave the place.
Kamiyat Naigaga (Assubo), Shamsha Najjuma (Uganda Martyrs), Sumayiah Nalumu (Uganda Martyrs), Shakirah Nankwanga (Kawempe Muslim Ladies), Sumayiah Namulondo, Marian Nakayiwa (Asubbo), Zaitun Namaganda (Wakiso Hill), Moreen Kimono (Wakiso Hill) are the new signings.
During a pre-match press conference, new skipper Shamira Nalujja has expressed his side’s readiness ahead of the opener.
“It’s a new season, too many new faces in the squad and surely new ambitions.
Our focus is winning. We are handling a game at a time to lead us to this year’s championship.
We had a final day set-back last season.

Meanwhile, 12 senior players including former captain Zainah Namuleme, three time league MVP and 2016 Female footballer of the year Hasifah Nassuna and Lillian Mutuuzo are some of the big names that left the club.
The others are Dorcus Nabuufu, Sophia Nakiyingi, Prima Mugidde, Florence Imanizabayo, Lukiya Namubiru, Damali Matama, Judith Sanyu, Patricia Akiror and Shakira Mutiibwa.
It’s confirmed, Sumayiah Komuntale committed her future to the club signing a three year contract extension.
In the other fixtures, defending and record champions Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC will commence their championship defence at home against Rines SS WFC on Saturday.
The 2021/22 champions She Corporate FC leads the four new entrants into the league. Tooro Queens FC, Amus College WFC, and Olila High School WFC the other three teams.
It’s also Important to note that this new campaign will see the number of teams in the division increased from 10 to 12.
