Grand Nairobi Bike champion Aziz Ssempijja to race at Africa championship
After winning a Gold at the recently concluded Grand Nairobi Bike Race championship, Kawempe Cycling Club’s Aziz Ssempijja has set his eye onto the Africa Bike Race championship.
The continent showpiece is scheduled to start on Wednesday, the 9th to 13th October 2024 in the Kenyan capital Nairobi.
The 2024 Grand Nairobi Race Black Mamba category champion Aziz Ssempijja will leave the country this evening to Nairobi.
“Our preparations were disorganized due to the Federation’s faulty communication.
The information is scarce and it always comes in bits with no proper details. The delay in information flow stumbles our preparations in all ways.
However, I’m advantaged that I have just raced and won a Gold medal in the Grand Nairobi Bike championship on 29th last month.
This keeps me in good shape to compete again. Since coming back, I continued to intensively train and I’m ready to race in the continental showpiece.
I leave home to raise the Uganda flag and together with my teammates we hope to win”. Aziz Ssempijja.
Together with Abdul Lubega and Hatim Kagaba, they will reach Nairobi tomorrow morning to join other six Kenyan based members of team Uganda.
The six Ugandan riders who joined the Kenyan Ineos training camp include the 2024 Grand Nairobi Bike Race elite category champion Charles Kagimu.
The others are Paul Lumulya, Lawrence Lolot, Miiro, Shafik Mugalu and Arafat Kimuli.
The African championship was shifted from Ethiopia, to Nairobi, Kenya, running from 9th to 13th October 2024 after Ethiopia withdrew the intentions to host.
This championship will bring together all Bike racers from all over the African continent.
