CAF Champions League: Express FC bows out of the competition

Uganda’s representatives in the CAF Champions League Express Football Club FC have bowed out of the competition.

The Red Eagles suffered a heart breaking 1-0 loss to Sudan’s Al Merrikh at the Shikan Castle Stadium in Obeid city on Sunday, 19th 2021.

The CECAFA Club and Ugandan champions bowed out on the away goal’s rule after a 2 all aggregate over the two legs. In the first leg, Express FC won 2-1.

In the return leg, Al Merrikh scored through Ahmed Hamid in the 73rd minute of the game.

Erick Kambale and Martin Kizza scored for Express in the first leg as Bakri Abd Elgadir got the consolation for Al Merrikh.

Express is to return to the country on Monday to ahead of the Stanbic Uganda Cup semi-final against BUL that slated for Thursday, 23rd September 2021.
