SUPL: Vipers wins petition against Tooro United, awarded three points
Vipers SC’s chances of winning this season’s StarTimes Uganda Premier League title have been elevated after they were awarded three points by the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) following a successful petition against Tooro United.
Tooro United had won 1-0 at Buhinga earlier in the month but Vipers filed a petition with a claim that Tooro used an ineligible player.
According to the petition from Vipers, Ronald Kayondo who was donning shirt 26 was not supposed to play as he was suspended.
Kayondo had been booked in the matches away to Onduparaka FC on January 08, at home to Onduparaka FC on February 08 and at home to SC Villa on February 26.
Accordingly, the FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel has awarded Vipers the three points.
“FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel has awarded three points and three goals to VipersSC SC after a successful petition against Tooro United FC for fielding an ineligible player in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League match between the two teams on 11.3.2022 at Buhinga Stadium,” a statement by FUFA reads.
Vipers have now consolidated their top spot with 49 points, seven clear of second placed KCCA FC after 21 games.
For Tooro, they stay bottom of the log with nine points, 11 adrift of safety with just nine games to play.
