Women Football: UCU Lady Cardinals riot against defending champions Lady Doves to maintain unbeaten run
UCU Lady Cardinals thumped defending champions Lady Doves 5-0 to register a third successive victory in the 2021/22 FUFA Women Super League season.
The game was played at UCU grounds in Mukono on Saturday, 19th January 2022.
UCU Lady Cardinals’ riot over the “Believers” was championed by former St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana defender and forward Harriet Muwugumya and Sandra Kisakye, magician Hasifah Nasuuna, Shadia Nankya and debutant Asiat Nalugwa.
Muwugumya sparked off the riot with a strong left foot strike just 12 minutes into the first stanza before Uganda’s finest Hasifah Nasuuna converted from the mark in 65th to make it 2-0.
In the second half, defender Shadia Nankya extended the lead to 3-0 (73) before Sandra Kisakye finished a text book move to make it 4-0 just 2 minutes later.
Debutant Asiat Nalugwa sealed UCU Lady Cardinals victory with a beauty that confirmed a 5-0 sscoreline.
The win took UCU to the table summit with nine points after three games.
UCU Lady Cardinals opened the league with a 1-0 win over Olira before humbling newbies She Maroons with the same scoreline in the second tie of the season.
Meanwhile Lady Doves are yet to win a game this season in three attempts.
The defending champions lost to Uganda Martyrs 3-1 in their league opener before a goalless draw against She Maroons in the second.
Elsewhere in the league, host Rines played for a goalless draw with She Corporate FC at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso.
Hasifah Nasuuna is currently the league top scorer with three (3) goals. She has been on target for UCU Lady Cardinals in every game this season.
The league will continue tomorrow with three fixtures on the menu card.
Uganda’s power house Kawempe Muslim will face off with Toooro Queens at deadly valley in Kawempe, hoping to come back to winning ways following a 2-0 defeat to She Corporate FC in the previous outing.
On the same day, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga will host Olira whilst She Maroons host Kampala Queens at Prisons grounds in Luzira.
