FUFA Women Super League Kawempe Muslim, Uganda Martyrs storm semi-final stage

Uganda’s women football giants Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC and Uganda Martyrs WFC have qualified for this year’s FUFA Women Super League semi-final.

The confirmation came after today’s two deciders between Kampala Queens and Makerere University and Uganda Martyrs WFC and Tooro Queens.

The bitter contest for the second semi-final slot was between Uganda Martyrs and Kampala Queens who before the games were all tied at six points out of three games.

Uganda Martyrs through a former Kawempe Muslim forward Anitah Namata and Spencer Nakachwa beat Tooro Queens 2-1 to beat Kampala Queens for the second slot.

Spencer Nakacwa sent Uganda Martyrs into the lead just 23 minutes into the game before former St. Noa and 2019 USSSA MVP Resty Kobusobozi scored for Tooro to level matters.

Anitah Namata restored the lead which also became the match winner in the 45th minute.

Whilst Kampala Queens through Resty Nanziri (45) and Fauzia Najjemba’s 87th strike were enough for them to overcome resilient Makerere University in a 2-1 score line. Sharon Namatovu scored for Makerere University.

Today’s results imply that Kawempe Muslim and Uganda Martyrs are joint leaders of the group with nine points. However, Kawempe Muslim’s six goals difference compared to Uganda Martyrs’ two separated them.

Kampala Queens also finished with nine points but with a -1 goals difference disadvantage.

The second group which includes Isra Soccer Academy, UCU Lady Cardinals, Olira High School, Lady Doves and She Corporates will report to Njeru on Sunday 25th April 2021.
