Zana Mixed secures maiden win at USSSA National Ball Games I as Kitende, St. Noa and Nabisunsa continue unbeaten runs

Zana Mixed Secondary School has bounced back from their debut defeat to register a convincing 28-10 win over Mandela SS at the 2025 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) National Ball Games I basketball championship in Bukedea.
The victory marks a historic milestone for the team, as it is their first-ever win in the National championship.
With three fixtures remaining against Sacred Heart Gulu, Mvara, and Seeta High A Level, Zana Mixed is poised to qualify for the knockout stage, given their potential to win against the remaining opponents.
Meanwhile, Nabisunsa Girls has continued to impress, winning 34-23 over Mvara SS.
The win follows their 23-16 victory over newbies Zana Mixed Secondary School yesterday.
Other teams that have been in fine form include St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana, who registered their second successive win with a 39-5 thrashing of St. Cyprian Kyabakadde.
The Zana-based giants followed up their dominant 58-17 win against Lubiri SS in their tournament opener.
Defending champions St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School-Kitende has also maintained their perfect run, adding two wins to their name on day three.
Kitende got off to a strong start in their title defense with a 36-18 win over Tororo Girls, before whitewashing St. Cyprian Kihangire 70-6 and beating Seeta High 37-14.
