Yaya Toure warns Nigeria about Emmanuel Dennis ahead of Ghana’s game
Former Ivory Coast international Yaya Toure has warned Nigeria coach Augustine Eguavoen about Emmanuel Dennis’ selfishness ahead of the 2022 World Cup playoff against Ghana.
Toure believes Dennis is a good striker but his selfish style can cost Nigeria against Ghana later this month.
The former Manchester City star was analysing Watford’s 3-2 defeat to Arsenal which Dennis failed to impress.
“Dennis is the top scorer and he looks very much the player who can hurt Arsenal but he appears to be playing for himself.”
“He doesn’t put in enough work without the ball and even during kickoff, he didn’t take the knee with the rest of the team. He can do more for the team,” Toure said.
Dennis has been recalled to the Nigeria team despite his decision to shun the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.
The Watford man was not in the good books of former Nigeria Gernot Rohr who froze him out, questioning his attitude and discipline.
Nigeria take on Ghana in the 20,000-capacity Cape Coast Sports Stadium in Ghana on March 25, with the reverse leg set for the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on March 29.
