Western Uganda’s Premier Basketball Showcase: JOVOC Open Basketball Tournament Returns
The 13th edition of the prestigious JOVOC Open Basketball Tournament is set to tip off on Saturday, 7th March 2026, at St. Joseph’s Vocational School in Mbarara, promising an electrifying display of young talent from over 40 secondary school teams across the country.

“We are ready in terms of facilities, officials, and welfare. Each school that will participate will receive a basketball and a set of uniforms from our sponsors, as we continue to develop basketball in Western Uganda,” said Byamukama Alex Seminy, the event organizer.

“This is a platform best for preparing and fine-tuning players ahead of the big and competitive USSSA qualifiers and national championships.”
The tournament has evolved from a regional championship to a national spectacle, attracting top teams like Elite High School Entebbe, Ndejje SS, and St. Noa Girls SS Zana.
With objectives centered on developing basketball in Western Uganda and producing top-notch talent, JOVOC has become a staple in the country’s basketball calendar.
Past winners include powerhouses like Nyakasura School, Kabale Trinity College, and Elite High School Entebbe.

Can this year’s edition produce a new champion? The stage is set for an unforgettable display of skill, speed, and sportsmanship.
