The 20th Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) Games have officially been launched at Uganda Christian University (UCU), marking the beginning of one of the country’s most anticipated inter-university sports festivals.
The AUUS Executive Committee, led by President George Wagogo, presided over the launch ceremony, which was attended by prominent university leaders, including Prof. John M. Kitayimbwa, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Director of Student Affairs Pamela Tumwebaze, and Mr. Vincent Kisenyi, Dean of the UCU School of Business and a key member of the organizing committee.

Scheduled to take place from December 18th to 23rd, 2025, the championship will feature over 21 universities competing in 18 disciplines, including football, netball, basketball, volleyball, rugby, athletics, handball, woodball, chess, karate, and scrabble.
Reigning champions Ndejje University, who topped the previous edition hosted at UCU in 2023, are expected to put up a spirited performance, alongside other strong contenders like Kampala University, Kyambogo University, and hosts UCU.
“This year marks the second consecutive time UCU is hosting the AUUS Games, a testament to the university’s growing profile in sports management and infrastructure development,” said Mr. Vincent Kisenyi, assuring participants that preparations are well underway.
“By the commencement date, the hosting grounds especially for football and netball will be fully ready.
Refurbishment works are already underway at the main football pitch.”
As the countdown begins, excitement is building among athletes, fans, and university communities, all eager to witness another thrilling edition of Uganda’s premier university sports extravaganza.
