Hell’s Gate, Kenya – Ugandan co-driver Mildred Kibuuka has made a remarkable impression at the 2025 WRC Safari Rally, guiding Kenyan driver Timothy Kinoti to a podium finish in the 2WD category.
The duo, who teamed up just a week before the rally, demonstrated exceptional chemistry and skill, navigating the treacherous four-day event with ease.
Driving a Toyota Runx, sponsored by Galana Energies, they posted impressive times, including the 10th overall best time on the KNRC and the best 2WD time from leg 1 on Thursday.
Kibuuka’s experience and expertise in calling notes for several drivers, including Peter Kalule, Hajji Musa Mulika, and Ponsiano Lwakataka, proved invaluable in her partnership with Kinoti.
Having previously navigated for drivers in Kenya, including Haran Thetty and Sammy Nyori, Kibuuka’s familiarity with the terrain and her ability to adapt to new drivers was evident.
The crew’s impressive performance culminated in a 2WD category win, with the best fastest time, and a 16th overall finish on the Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC) classification.
With plans to compete in the KNRC season together, Kibuuka and Kinoti are solidifying their partnership, with contractual obligations being discussed with their sponsors, Galana Energies.
Kibuuka’s success at the WRC Safari Rally has not only showcased her exceptional co-driving skills but has also paved the way for future opportunities in international rallying.
