Uganda Martyrs University Clinches Third Pepsi University Football League Title

In a commanding display of football, Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) secured their third Pepsi University Football League title with a 3-0 victory over St. Lawrence University at Wankulukuku Stadium on Sunday.
The Nkozi-based team produced a masterclass performance, building on their previous triumphs in 2017 and 2022.
UMU’s campaign was marked by a fast-paced first half, during which Calvin Peter Emayo broke the deadlock, sparking wild celebrations among the UMU fans.
Crispus Sseruwunge doubled their advantage with a well-taken finish, giving UMU a strong 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
In the second half, Ronald Obedgiu sealed the win with a third goal, dashing St. Lawrence’s hopes of a comeback.
Despite some spirited attacks, St. Lawrence was unable to breach UMU’s defense, and the team held firm to maintain their unbeaten record throughout the competition.
This victory cements UMU’s position as the most successful side in the Pepsi University Football League history, overtaking MUBS and Kampala University, who each have two championships.
For St. Lawrence, it was another heartbreak, having now reached the final three times without lifting the trophy.
In the third-place playoff, Bugema University edged out Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) 1-0.
With this win, UMU has truly etched their name in the history books of University Football League, solidifying their dominance in the competition.
