Uganda Boxing Federation set to convene Ordinary Annual General Assembly
The 2024 Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) Ordinary Annual General Assembly is slated for Thursday, December 26, at the UMA Show Grounds in Lugogo, Kampala.
This pivotal gathering will facilitate discussions on critical issues, including planning, budget approval for the next financial year, and the presentation of the financial report among others.
In an exclusive interview, UBF President Moses Muhangi underscored the significance of the Assembly, stating, “The UBF’s Annual General Meeting is a critical event for accountability and planning.
We will delve into our performance over the past year, encompassing our calendar, budget, and key activities. Transparency and accountability will be paramount, as we present our books of accounts.”
The Assembly will also focus on approving a new calendar and budget for the upcoming year, as well as reviewing the strategic plan. Key areas of emphasis for the next financial year include:
1. Technical Development: Enhancing the skills and abilities of boxers, coaches, and officials.
2. Marketing and Branding: Promoting the UBF and Ugandan boxing globally to attract fans, sponsors, and partners.
3. Corporate Governance and Administration: Strengthening governance structures, policies, and procedures for effective management and accountability.
4. Infrastructure: Developing and upgrading boxing facilities, equipment, and resources to support the sport’s growth.
5. Competitions: Organizing and participating in local, regional, and international competitions to showcase Ugandan boxing talent.
Despite the UBF’s achievements, the sport still faces challenges in regaining its prominence on the international stage, including the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, and World Boxing Championships across all age categories.
