Stanbic Uganda Cup: Wakiso Giants targets round of 16 as they take on Kyetume
Wakiso Giants will shift the focus to the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 32 game as we host Kyetume on Tuesday at Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium Wakiso with the ultimate target being the round of 16 qualification.
The Purple Sharks come into the game on the back of a disappointing 5-0 defeat at home to URA FC in the league.
Wakiso Giants FC head coach Alex Gitta claims that winning against the Fufa Big League side will return the team’s confidence.
“It’s a game that will rebuild the confidence and morale of the players if we win and that’s the main target tomorrow,” Gitta was quoted before adding.
“Our target in the competition is to go as far possible and we gave ourselves a target of five games to play,” he added.
On the rivalry created between the two sides in the lower league, the gaffer played it down insisting winning the game is the focus.
“The rivalry created in the Fufa Big League doesn’t matter at the moment but our primary focus is on getting the result that will take us to the next round,” he noted.
Gitta also revealed that three players are returning to the team after missing successive games.
“There will be less changes but thankfully, we have defender Edward Satulo and midfielders Titus Ssematimba and Hassan Ssenyonjo back.”
“Unfortunately, Shariph Kimbowa, Hassan Wasswa Dazo and Simon Namwanja are out,” he noted.
When the two sides met in the 2018/19 season, Kyetume eliminated Wakiso Giants from the Stanbic Uganda on penalties at the quarter final stage.
