St Lawrence University and Uganda Martyrs University Set for UFL final Showdown

The highly anticipated final of the Pepsi University Football League 2025 edition is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku. The stage is set for an electrifying encounter between St Lawrence University and Uganda Martyrs University, who previewed their strategies at a press conference held at Kati Kati Restaurant Lugogo on Thursday, April 24.
This marks the second time these two universities will meet in the final, with Uganda Martyrs University emerging victorious in 2022 with a 1-0 win courtesy of Suny Kaija.
UMU’s assistant coach, Orom Henry Bishop, believes history will repeat itself, despite acknowledging St Lawrence’s strength.
” invite fans to witness top-notch football. We’re confident that we’ll lift the trophy again. We’ve lost some players, but our focus remains unchanged. We’ve played St Lawrence before, and we won 1-0 in the 2022 final. I trust that history will favor us once more,” Bishop stated.
However, St Lawrence University’s captain, Ziraba Ronnie, is undaunted by his team’s past record in the finals. Having lost in the last two finals with a uniform 1-0 score line, Ronnie is determined to forge a new path.
“I won’t dwell on past losses. I wasn’t part of that team, so it’s their history. I’ve come to create my own,” Ronnie declared.
St Lawrence University coach, Davis Nnono Ssozi, shares Ronnie’s optimism, citing the team’s new squad and his own growth as a coach.
“This final is special because we have a new team, and I’ve learned from past experiences. We’ve been tested, and I believe this year is our year. We’ll seize the opportunity,” Ssozi said.
The final match will kick off at 3 PM, following the third-place tie between IUIU and Bugema University.
