Sentamu strikes late as Vipers edge Kitara in Stanbic Uganda Cup semi-final thriller

Vipers secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Kitara in the first leg of the Stanbic Uganda Cup semi-final, played at Kitende on Saturday night.
Substitute Yunus Sentamu scored the decisive goal deep into stoppage time, capitalizing on a defensive lapse to seal the win for Vipers.

The match was a tense and physical encounter, with few clear-cut chances.
Vipers’ Milton Karisa and Allan Okello threatened the Kitara goal, while Patrick Kaddu and Jude Ssemugabi posed a danger for Kitara.

Despite enjoying more possession, Vipers struggled to break down Kitara’s defense, with Gusto Mulongo, Karisa, and Okello failing to capitalize on chances.
However, Sentamu’s stoppage-time goal sparked wild celebrations among the home fans and gave Vipers a vital edge ahead of the return leg.
The result keeps Vipers’ hopes of a domestic double alive as they head into the decisive second leg, scheduled for May 17th in Hoima.
