SC Villa squanders two goal lead to share spoils with Bright Stars, NEC beat Maroons to go top

Defending champions SC Villa surrendered a 2-goal lead to shared spoils with Soltilo Bright Stars in a 2-2 draw at Wankulukuku.

Record champions took the lead in just 12 minutes and doubled it nine minutes later through goals from Patrick Kakande and Charles Lwanga, respectively.

However, in the second half, the visitors took control and pulled one back through Pascal Oketcho’s beautiful free kick with his left foot an hour in.

Towards the final bend of the game, Khassim Mustapha equalized force a 2-2 draw for visitors.

SC Villa are now seventh on the log with seven points, while Soltilo Bright Stars remain in the relegation zone with four points.

The draw became the 8th for the visitors as Villa remained at 11 wins again 4 in 23 meetings between the two sides.

In the next game, Soltilo Bright Stars will host Mbarara City FC on Friday, October 25, 2024, while SC Villa will visit Maroons FC the following day.

In Lugogo, NEC FC came from behind to overcome stubborn Maroons and secure maximum points to go top.

Jacob Okao inadvertently netted an own goal to put the visitors ahead, but Paul Mucureezi and Muzamir Mutyaba found the back of the net in the 58th and 70th minutes, respectively, to seal the victory.

The win took NEC to the top of the table with 12 points, two points ahead of second-placed KCCA FC, who play their fifth game this Saturday against UPDF.

This was NEC FC’s fourth victory in five games, with their only loss coming against Express FC at Nakivubo.

In the next game, NEC FC will host wounded Wakiso Giants FC on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, in Lugogo, while Maroons will host SC Villa on Saturday, October 26, 2024, in Luzira.
