In a nail-biting encounter, Ngabi Nsamba successfully defended the Bika Bya Baganda football shield, edging out Ndiga 6-5 in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in normal time.

The final match was held at the Mutesa II Wankulukuku stadium on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

Ndiga took an early lead through Reagan Mpande’s impressive solo effort in the 4th minute.

However, Ngabi Nsamba equalized just five minutes into the second half when veteran winger Sula “Malouda” Matovu scored a beautifully struck free-kick.

Substitute Steven Yiga then gave Ngabi Nsamba the lead, only for Mpande to score his second goal and level the match at 2-2, sending the game into penalties.

In the penalty shootout, Ngabi Nsamba’s goalkeeper Hassan Matovu made a crucial save from Issa Lumu’s kick, allowing Najib Yiga to score the winning penalty and secure the shield for Ngabi Nsamba.

The third-place playoff saw Nsenene (Grass Hoppers) defeat Kkobe (Creeping plant) 1-0, with Brian Masembe scoring the decisive goal in the 40th minute.

Individual awards were also presented, with Reagan Mpande (Ndiga) named Most Valuable Player, Elias Kiyimba (Kasimba) crowned Top Scorer with 5 goals, and Henry Mwebe (Nsenene) recognized as Best Goalkeeper.

The Bika Bya Baganda football shield has a rich history, with Ngabi Nsamba’s victory marking their sixth title in 1951, 1987, 2007, 2013, 2024, and 2025.

The event was attended by prominent figures, including Katikiro Charles Peter Mayiga, FUFA CEO Edgar Watson Suubi, and the first vice president Justus Mugisha.
