Mozambique seeking improved performance in TotalEnergies U-20 AFCON

Mozambique

Mozambique return to the TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations seeking to improve on their performance after their debut two years go in Mauritania.

They might not have the pedigree of their group opponents, but the Mambinhas will be motivated to improve on their performance in their first showing.

They suffered a group stage exit in their debut participation in Mauritania, but the Cosafa champions will come better prepared for the tournament.

The Coach

Former Mozambican international striker (16 caps, 2 goals) Dario Monteiro has taken the reins of the Mozambique U-20 team since 2019.

He intends to thwart the predictions during this edition and reach the knock-out phase for the first time.

Players to watch

To support him, Dário Alberto de Jesus Monteiro can also count on Pungwe Denio Munhave, a hardworking striker from Ferroviário de Maputo.

Swift midfielders Keyns Abdala (LD Maputo), José Zavala (Black Bulls) and Djwa Ramos (FC Torrente, Portugal) will be expected to supply their attackers.

Proof that the local Mozambican pool is full of young up-and-coming players who are just waiting to give the full measure of their talent. This edition of the CAN Total Energies will already be a first test for them.
