Masaza Cup: Date, venue revealed as finals make return to Namboole
The Buganda Minister for Sports Owek. Robert Sserwanga Ssalongo has today, 7th October confirmed that this year’s Masaza Cup final will be held on 2nd November 2024.
It’s also confirmed Masaza Cup finals will make a return to Mandela National Stadium, Namboole since 2019.
“We are here to confirm the 2nd of November 2024 as the final date for this year’s Masaza Cup tournament final.
All teams in the semi-finals will be at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole to feature in the third place classification match and the final.
We thank all supporters/contributors who have played a role at any level to ensure the success of this edition’s tournament”. Minister Robert Sserwanga Ssalongo.
At the press briefing, the minister also confirmed that tickets for the final will go for 20,000 (ordinary), 50,000 (VIP) and 100,000 for a VVIPs. The selling points for tickets will be shortly communicated.
One of the four teams in Buddu, Kyadondo, Kyaggwe and Buwekula are potential winners of this edition.
In the semi-final first leg, Buddo rioted against hosts Kyadondo in a 3-1 emphatic victory at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
Meanwhile in the second semi-final, hosts Kyaggwe slimly won 2-1 over Buwekula on Sunday at Mukono High School grounds.
The four teams will next face off this Sunday in the return fixture at Kitovu to determine who progresses to the final due on November, 2nd 2024.
It’s not yet confirmed whether his Majesty the Buganda Kingdom King Ronald Muwenda Mutebi Kimera II will grace the final.
Kabaka last showed up at Masaza Cup tournament final in 2021 at St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.
